On Tuesday, July 15, 2025, students from Faculty of Education Department of Elementary Education, Teikyo University, conducted sales activities with students from Tokyo Metropolitan Nanao Special Needs School at Hachioji Campus. The department is working to develop educational collaboration with Nanao Special Needs School, and this event was part of that effort.
On the day, the students sold baked goods such as cookies and cakes, and cloth products such as pencil cases and pouches made by the food processing and craft teams of Nanao Special Needs School High School, with each team taking on roles such as calling customers, explaining the products, accounting, and serving drinks. This initiative, now in its third year, has gradually become known on campus, and at one point it was so successful that faculty, staff, and students lined up.
The participants this time were students taking a course to qualify as a teacher at a special needs school, and it was a valuable opportunity for them to deepen their understanding of the attitude and specialized instruction required when interacting with students with disabilities. One of the participating students commented, "It was impressive to see how hard the students worked. I hope this will become one of their fond memories." Associate Professor Nakamura Susumu, who supervised the students, said, "It was a lot of fun calling out to the customers together with the students. Let's look back on today and use it to our sales events in September and October."
This sales activity will be held on the 1st floor of Building 7 at Hachioji Campus on Tuesday, September 16th and Tuesday, October 14th, so please stop by.
